A Sustainable Denim Campaign for Plato’s Closet
Plato’s Closet is a resale retail brand that buys and sells gently used, on-trend clothing for teens and young adults. Known for its fast-moving inventory and value-driven shopping experience, the brand regularly activates seasonal campaigns designed to encourage both buying and selling within its stores.
The Challenge
For the Go Green with Jeans campaign, Plato’s Closet set out to promote the sustainability benefits of resale fashion while driving denim buy-ins at local stores. The campaign centered around the idea of “recycling” denim—encouraging customers to bring in their gently used jeans and give them a second life through resale.
The national rollout required a cohesive campaign system that could perform across multiple channels, including in-store print materials, social media graphics, digital advertising, and TikTok video content. The creative needed to connect with a trend-aware, socially conscious audience while clearly communicating the incentive to sell denim.
The Approach
Having worked with Plato’s Closet for several years, I was familiar with both the brand’s visual language and the pace of its retail marketing needs. For this campaign, I was given full creative control over the visual direction.
The concept focused on blending sustainability messaging with the brand’s energetic, youth-driven style. Bold typography, fashion-forward imagery, and playful messaging helped frame denim resale as both environmentally responsible and style-savvy.
Video content played a central role in the campaign’s social strategy. Acting as a one-person production team, I concepted, cast, directed, styled, shot, and edited three TikTok videos designed to capture the attention of a Gen Z audience. The videos paired fast-paced visuals with relatable storytelling, reinforcing the idea that selling your denim at Plato’s Closet is both easy and rewarding.
In addition to the video content, I designed and produced the full suite of campaign assets, including in-store print pieces and static social graphics, ensuring visual consistency across every customer touchpoint.
The Result
The campaign not only met but exceeded client expectations. The integrated creative drove measurable engagement across both digital and retail channels, resulting in a 2.5× increase in denim buys, 28,000 “location near me” searches, and 35,000 website visits during the campaign period.
Digital performance remained highly efficient, achieving a $0.25 cost per click, while the campaign successfully reinforced Plato’s Closet’s position as a stylish and sustainable alternative to traditional retail.
