A Refreshed Annual Report for The Junior League

The Junior League of Greater Lakeland is a long-standing organization dedicated to strengthening the community through education, outreach, and volunteer service. Over several years of collaboration, I helped refine and maintain a cohesive visual identity for the organization across a variety of communications. One of the most visible opportunities for that work was League Lines, the organization’s annual report.

The Challenge

While the Junior League has evolved to meet the needs of modern communities, its annual report had not kept pace visually. League Lines felt dated and no longer reflected the energy, professionalism, and impact of the organization’s current work.

The goal was to modernize the publication while maintaining the recognizable elements of the Junior League brand and honoring the organization’s long-standing traditions.

The Approach

The redesign began with the updated national Junior League brand guidelines, using them as the foundation for typography, color application, and overall layout structure. New fonts and refreshed color usage helped modernize the publication while maintaining consistency with the larger Junior League network.

Photography became a central element of the design strategy. Because JLGL hosts numerous events throughout the year, the annual report provided an opportunity to showcase the organization’s work through compelling visuals. Bold, clean spreads were designed to highlight photography while keeping the layout simple and highly readable.

By balancing classic Junior League branding with modern editorial design principles, the publication was transformed into a more engaging and contemporary piece while still feeling true to the organization’s heritage.

The Result

The redesigned League Lines reflects both the legacy and the current momentum of The Junior League of Greater Lakeland. The updated publication gives members a clearer, more compelling view of the organization’s work and impact, reinforcing the value of their contributions and the collective progress of the League with each new issue.
